Itinerary
-
A private, five-day journey through Turkey's tea country, staying in wooden bungalows along the Fırtına Valley and on the Ayder Plateau. Designed for couples, honeymooners and families who prefer river sounds and local food to long drives, it starts and finishes at Trabzon Airport (TZX) — Rize-Artvin Airport (RZV) works too. Every departure includes your own licensed English-speaking guide, private vehicle and driver; only your group travels together. Prices are per person and decrease as the group grows from one to eight. Driving days stay short, usually under two hours, because the route remains in Rize province. Highlights: Ottoman-era stone arch bridges and the medieval Zilkale fortress in Fırtına Valley; Ayder Plateau at 1,350 m with thermal springs, Gelintülü Waterfall and traditional Hemşin houses; an easy hike on Huser Plateau with Kaçkar Mountain views; Rize tea terraces, a tea garden and factory visit; and Kız Kalesi (Maiden's Castle) on a sea rock at Pazar. Accommodation is wooden bungalows with private bathrooms — two nights by the river in Fırtına Valley, two nights in Ayder. Best months are June to September for plateau walks; May and October are quieter and very green. Light rain is common year-round. The trip suits all fitness levels — walks are short and optional, the Huser hike takes one to two hours at an easy pace. On request we can add rafting, ziplining or a candle-lit dinner.
-
Your driver meets you at Trabzon Airport and heads east along the Black Sea coast toward Rize. A first stop at a hilltop tea garden gives you a glass of Rize tea with a view over the city, then you continue into Fırtına Valley to check into your riverside wooden bungalow for the night. The drive offers a gentle introduction to the region's tea plantations and coastal scenery.

We liked how easy going the itinerary was as we were on a different tour prior to this and it was just nonstop go go go. That said, there was a lot of down time to rest & recover so I think 3 nights vs 4 would’ve sufficed. Nonetheless our experience was good. The customer service was super responsive and reliable. Our driver made us feel safe and comfortable given the roads were narrow and slippery from the rain. Our tour guide was very warm and welcoming and took her time to show us around. The accommodation was superb. The host made us wonderful breakfast and the view was to die for. I would recommend anyone planning to visit Rize/Trabzon to book with this tour.
