You reach Machu Picchu the old way on our Classic Inca Trail: on foot, following original Inca paths and walking in through the Sun Gate. It's our most popular trek, and over four days you'll cross high mountain passes, move through cloud forest, and stop at Inca sites spread along the route. Mornings start gently, with coffee or coca tea brought to your tent. Our trekking chefs cook fresh, hot meals at every stage, so you can focus on the walking. This is a demanding hike, but the daily rhythm and the support make it manageable. You'll walk in a small group with an expert local guide, and porters carry up to 7 kg / 15 lb of your gear so you move lighter. Camp includes quality tents, a private portable toilet tent, and a satellite phone carried for emergencies. Once you've seen Machu Picchu, the panoramic Vistadome train brings you back. We're a Peruvian local operator, and we handle the permits, transport, camping logistics and trail support. We follow responsible trekking practices and fair standards for porter welfare. . Tour Highlights Walk the full Classic Inca Trail from Km 82 Step into Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate Spend three nights camping in the Andes Start each day with hot coffee or coca tea at your tent Walk lighter, with porters carrying up to 7 kg / 15 lb Join a small group led by an expert local guide Ride back on the panoramic Vistadome train

Expect a pickup around 4:30 AM from your Cusco hotel. The drive takes you to Ollantaytambo first, where you'll have breakfast and pick up anything you still need. From there it's on to Km 82 (Piscacucho), the official start of the Inca Trail. Once you've met your guides and porters, the walking starts, following the Urubamba River through Andean terrain. You'll pass Willkarakay and Patallacta on the way to lunch at Hatunchaca. By late afternoon you reach the Ayapata campsite at 3,300m, where your tent and warm water are ready, and a hot dinner follows.

A cup of fresh coffee or coca tea sets you up for the hardest day on the trail. It's a steady climb to Dead Woman's Pass at 4,215m, the highest point of the trek. Take a breather, enjoy the views, then drop down into the Pacaymayo Valley for lunch. The afternoon means a second climb, this time up to Runkurakay Pass at 4,000m, with Inca sites to explore along the way: Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Conchamarca. You'll end the day at the Chaquicocha campsite, where the sunset and, if the sky stays clear, the stars are worth the effort.

Today has a different feel from the days before. You walk through cloud forest thick with orchids and moss-covered trees, passing through stone tunnels that frame the Vilcabamba mountains. First comes Phuyupatamarca, the City in the Clouds, then a descent on original Inca steps down to the terraces at Intipata. You'll reach the final campsite for lunch and some rest before your guide leads you into Wiñay Wayna, one of the trail's most impressive sites. Back at camp there's tea and dinner, plus a farewell celebration with your trekking team before tomorrow's final stretch to Machu Picchu.

It's a very early start today, with breakfast at camp before you head to the last checkpoint on the trail. As soon as it opens, you climb to Intipunku, the Sun Gate, and get your first proper look at Machu Picchu laid out below. Your guide walks you down the ancient path, pausing at viewpoints, then along the set route through the ruins. You'll take in the buildings, terraces, water channels and sacred spaces at your own pace. A shuttle bus then drops you in Aguas Calientes for lunch on your own. From there, the included Vistadome train carries you to Ollantaytambo or your confirmed station, and a final transfer takes you to your Cusco or Sacred Valley hotel.

It’s hard to put into words how extraordinary our luxury Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu truly was. From the moment we were met in Cusco by our guides and support team, we knew this was going to be something special, not just a hike, but a deeply moving, flawlessly orchestrated journey through history, nature, and culture. Every detail had been thought of. Our guides were knowledgeable, full of warmth and humor, weaving stories of Incan engineering, ancient rituals, and mountain legends into each day’s trek. They had a sense for when to pause for photos, when to rest, and when to simply stand in silence as the clouds rolled across the Andes. The staff, the team of porters, chefs, and support crew were nothing short of heroic. Somehow, while we hiked with light packs, they would race ahead to set up an immaculate campsite! Reaching Machu Picchu on the final day felt like the culmination of something much greater than a hike, it was a pilgrimage. Our guides secured the perfect timing to enter through the Sun Gate just as the first light hit the citadel. This journey exceeded every expectation of comfort, care, and connection. The professionalism and heart of every guide, porter, chef, and organizer turned a challenging trek into an unforgettable, soul-stirring experience. If you’re dreaming of the Inca Trail and want to do it in absolute style and comfort, this is the team to trust.
